Community Involvement Committee Family Promise Donation Drive

Wednesday, March 10 2021 3:05 PM

RSCK's Community Involvement Committee is collecting housing supplies to support Family Promise of Greater Wichita. The mission of Family Promise is to unite hearts and hands to provide compassionate hospitality and empower homeless families with children to achieve sustainable independence.

When families successfully leave Family Promise for a place of their own, they oftentimes are starting over from scratch. Family Promise tries to connect them with good quality used furniture to supplement what they may have stored. Additionally, saved income from their time with Family Promise is usually in place to help with moving and household setup expenses, particularly any required deposits and the first month of rent.  Even so, moving and household set-up expenses tend to add up quickly, and may deplete savings.

This is where RSCK Members can help the families that are transitioning from homelessness to having a new home. We are collecting "Housewarming Bundles" to help celebrate with these successful families and ease their burden as they transition back to life on their own.
