Updated Guidance on Open Houses May 22nd

Categorized In REALTORS®
Based on the revised Kansas reopen plan issued by the Governor this week, Phase 2 begins today, May 22nd, and is limited to gatherings of 15 people (not 30). Phase 3 is scheduled for June 8th, and will increase to gatherings of 45 people.

Based on the revised plan, South Central Kansas MLS has re-enabled the ability to schedule in-person open houses in Paragon. You should continue to observe the gathering limits as well as maintaining 6-foot social distancing. Frequent disinfecting of commonly touched surfaces and signs requesting that visitors refrain from touching surfaces in the home can also help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

See the following link for detailed guidance from the Governor on the reopen plan:

You can still use live streaming open houses as an alternative to in-person open houses. The ability to hold an open house is ultimately the decision of the broker and the seller. We will continue to offer guidance at the local, state and national level and continue to convey the requirements set by our state and federal governments.

The Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) announced it has begun accepting Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) applications as of today.

PUA is a broad program enacted by the Federal CARES Act that expands access to unemployment, in addition to what state and federal law already pay. This includes those who traditionally are not able to get unemployment (e.g. REALTORS®).

As a reminder, make sure you have already applied for and been denied for regular unemployment insurance benefits.

All PUA applications will be completed online at  http://PUA.GetKansasBenefits.gov.

KDOL is expecting payments to be issued starting May 25.

Updated Guidance on Open Houses May 6, 2020

Based on evaluation of the Kansas reopen plan issued by the Governor last week, South Central Kansas MLS has concluded that open houses do not meet the guidelines established in Phase 1 of the reopen plan. As expressed in Phase 1, mass gatherings of no more than 10 individuals are allowed and individuals must maintain 6-foot social distancing. Open houses have the potential to contradict both requirements.

SCK MLS has determined that marketing of open houses in the MLS system will continue to be suspended until Kansas enters Phase 2 of the reopen plan, which is currently projected to start on May 18th.

In Phase 2 of the plan there continues to be a requirement to maintain 6-foot social distance, but mass gatherings are increased to no more than 30 individuals. Once we enter phase 2, SCK MLS plans to begin marketing open houses in the MLS system.
